84. The Splitting

 

55th un-initialed sura, 59th un-initialed revealed, 83rd revealed overall

 

In the name of God, the All Gracious, the All Merciful

 

 

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

                                        إِذَا السَّمَاءُ انْشَقَّتْ

When the sky is split.

 

5884 3141 4425 2340 1579 2

                                      وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

And hears her Lord and expires.

                                      وَإِذَا الأرْضُ مُدَّتْ

And when the land is stretched. 

 

5886 3143 4427 2342 4

                                  وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ

And throws out what is inside it and becomes empty.

                                     وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ

And hears her Lord and expires.

    يَا أَيُّهَا الإنْسَنُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلاقِيهِ

O you human being, indeed you are going towards your Lord, then you will meet Him.

                               فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ

Then the one who receives his record with blessing,-

 

5890 3147 4431 2346 8

                           فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا

-he will soon receive an easy reckoning.

 

5891 3148 4432 2347 9

                                 وَيَنْقَلِبُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

And he will return to his family joyfully.  

 

5892 3149 4433 2348 10

                         وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاءَ ظَهْرِهِ

But the one who receives his record behind his back,-

 

5893 3150 4434 2349 1583 11

                                      فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا

-he will soon be filled with remorse.

 

5894 3151 4435 2350 12

                                            وَيَصْلَى سَعِيرًا

And he will enter into a raging inferno.

 

5895 3152 4436 2351 1584 13

                                إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا

Indeed he used to be happy with his family.

 

5896 3153 4437 2352 14

                                    إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَنْ لَنْ يَحُورَ

Indeed he used to think that he would never be called to account.  

 

5897 3154 4438 2353 15

                                بَلَى إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا

Yes indeed, His Lord was always watching over him.   

 

5898 3155 4439 2354 16

                                        فَلا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ

Therefore, I swear by the dusk,-  

 

5899 3156 4440 2355 1585 17

                                         وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ

-and the night as it covers,-

 

5900 3157 4441 2356 18

                                         وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ

-and the Moon going through its phases,-

 

5901 3158 4442 2357 1586 19

                                   لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَنْ طَبَقٍ

-you will indeed ride in classified levels.  

 

5902 3159 4443 2358 20

                                       فَمَا لَهُمْ لا يُؤْمِنُونَ

Then why do they not believe?  

 

5903 3160 4444 2359 21

                    وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لا يَسْجُدُونَ

And when the Quran is recited for them, they do not fall prostrate.

                                بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا يُكَذِّبُونَ On the contrary the disbelievers are always in denial.
